Music In general 'popular' music may be as clear in expression as the longer examples of 'classical' music. One important difference, however, lies in the logical connection that exists in 'classical ' music between the beginning and end, with the latter a logical extension and development of the former. 'Popular' music, on the other hand, tends to present its material without development, the music ending when interest is exhausted. Lata Mangeshkar was born in on September 28, 1929 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh into a Maharashtrian Brahmin household. Her father was Dinanath Mangeshkar and her mother was named Shudhmati. Jagjit Singh is one of those entertainers who never pause, who never goes stale. For four decades now he has been conjuring up magic with his music and enthralling audiences. He has come out with innumerable collections of Ghazals and Bhajans, all of them winners.

Lata Mangeshkar (born September 28, 1929) is India`s leading female singer. Focusing for the most part on Hindi and Marathi film music (playback singing), she has sung in over twenty major Indian languages. Mangeshkar was featured in the Guinness Book of World Records from 1974 to 1991 for?most recordings? in the world. The claim was that she has apparently recorded not less than 25,000 solo, duet and chorus-backed songs in 20 Indian languages between 1948 to 1974 (30,000 songs between 1948 and 1987, according to 1987 edition). Her first super hit song was Aayega Aanewaala from the movie Mahal (1949), composed by Khemchand Prakash and picturised on Madhubala. Mahal was a hit film and a turning point for both Madhubala and Mangeshkar.

Kishore Kumar, called Kishore Kumar Ganguly in his childhood, was born in a Bengali family in the Khandwa town of Central Provinces and Berar, British India (now in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh). His father Kunjalal Ganguly was a lawyer and his mother Gouri Devi came from a wealthy family. Kishore Kumar was the second youngest of four siblings, the other three being Ashok Kumar (the eldest), Sati Devi, and Anoop Kumar. While Kishore Ganguly was still a child, Ashok Kumar became a popular Bollywood actor.Madhya Pradesh that had nothing to do with music, Kishore Kumar headed for Bombay in 1948 where his elder brother Ashok Kumar had established himself as an actor. His dream was to meet K.L. Saigal from whom he drew inspiration and whom he idolised and then made a career for himself as a singer in Hindi filmdom. As luck would have it, Kishore Kumar was forced into acting and it was years later that he blossomed into a versatile playback singer. Everlasting, evergreen voice that yoddled away to glory, Kishore Kumar's genius refused to be bracketed into a particular category. Playback singer, actor, director, filmmaker, composer and comedian, he easily slipped into the role assigned to him, be it composing music or acting.
